Creative Nano announces the publication of its new open-access book chapter, “Safe and Sustainable by Design Electrolytic Ni Nanocomposite Coatings: An Eco-Conscious Alternative to Hard Chromium,”featured in the IntechOpen volume “Fundamentals, Processing and Testing of Coatings for Materials and Surface Protection.”

The chapter presents Creative Nano’s latest advances in Safe-and-Sustainable-by-Design (SSbD)nanocomposite coatings, offering a greener alternative to conventional hard chromium plating. Central to the work is a scaled-up, boric-acid-free electrolytic bath developed at Cnano, demonstrating that environmentally responsible electroplating can achieve industrially relevant performance without compromising durability or functionality.

Funded by the MOZART EU Project, the research provides a practical pathway toward more sustainable surface-finishing solutions. By integrating sustainability principles from the early design stage, Creative Nano contributes to reducing hazardous substances in electroplating while supporting the transition to safer, high-performance coating technologies.

The chapter is available online with open access via IntechOpen.
