Dr Maria Karayianni is currently working in Creative nano as a Project Manager. She holds a bachelor’s degree in physics from the University of Ioannina (2004). In 2007 she obtained an MSc diploma in the field of Polymer Science from the Department of Chemistry of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, while in 2012 she defended her PhD thesis entitled: “Polymer Self-Assembly: Polyelectrolytes and their Complexes with Proteins”. She has participated as a postdoctoral researcher in both national and EC funded research projects. Her main research interests involve the physicochemical properties and characterization, as well as the self-assembly process of polymeric macromolecules and nanoparticles, polymer/protein complexation, structural studies of proteins, formulation of coatings, and the development of nanostructured composite materials and electrodeposited metal alloys towards surface modification. Her technical expertise cover a range of physicochemical, spectroscopic, thermal analysis and electrochemical deposition (direct and pulse current electroplating) techniques. She has published 11 peer reviewed articles and book chapters, and has participated in 11 national and international scientific conferences.
